"A Heart of Meticulous Painter with Skills for Various Paintings" -- A Special Interview to Zhao Na, Technology Development Center, Wison Engineering

Since 2013 when she joined Wison, Zhao Na is a simple and pure R&D engineer. In her part, she is more like a creator. The process design package she engages in is a job calling for creative imagination. It seems to be a challenging problem in geometry, which is likely to have a variety of angles for getting the answer; it can also be an oil painting. A masterpiece is likely to be created surprisingly with the brushes moving with the heart.

To take the "dimethyl ether carbonylation to ethanol technology" she has got involved in for example, "there are quite a few mature ethanol preparation technologies on the market presently, but through our adequate market survey and comparison of similar technologies, we have found that the dimethyl ether carbonylation to ethanol technology has more advantages in technical and economical aspects due to the features of the raw material." The whole process has been established through differentiated thinking. Zhao Na eventually completed the design of pilot plant for the technology as the leader.

As a person in charge of R&D, Zhao Na and her team members participated in the first mPAO project. For this project, Wison Engineering is responsible for compilation of feasibility study report and process design package, basic design and detained engineering. The project is the first design of new technology development. In the initial stage, Zhao Na worked together with the team members to track the lab operation, collect the test data till the establishment of an integrated pilot test process. During the period, the process scheme has been repeatedly discussed, optimized and verified. "Due to the long technical process and complicated operating process, there are a lot of problems to be solved for the pilot test magnifying process," noted Zhao Na, "we must carefully sort out the technical process step by step and analyze the experimental data. Also, we need to keep a close communication with technical side, hear and seek the experts' opinions."

Under the joint efforts of the project team, the process design package was ultimately accomplished. Such an achievement is of great significance. It is the first mPAO demonstration device in China. It benefited from the team led by Zhao Na in overcoming a lot of difficulties. It has laid a foundation for achieving the industrialization of the first low-viscosity mPAO basic oil technology domestically and also added a new milestone of the company in clean and efficient use of coal.

Lu'an high-density aviation fuel is another demanding project taken charge by Zhao Na. As the pilot test of 1,000-ton level is a batch production process, the huge challenge for the project R&D team is how to make use of the pilot test data to establish a continuous production process of 10,000-ton level. "During the engineering, we focused on difficulty points for experimental analysis, identified the key points, sorted out basic physical property data, reaction parameters and operating parameters, proposed new type of reactor and control mode by referring to the experience of other projects, then submitted it to Tianjin University for experimental verification and succeeded in solving the problem of reactor amplifying." Another difficulty was tackled by Zhao Na's team, enabling the company to win a remarkable performance value. The sense of delight and achievement has made Zhao Na to be satisfied which cannot be delivered orally.

The continuous implementation of Lu'an project has also made Wison to be further recognized and trusted by Lu'an Group. Lu'an's project for segregation of olefines is the third project related to Lu'an taken charged by Zhao Na. Segregation of olefines refers to segregation of high-carbon olefins in naphtha and diesel fraction, which is a totally new separation process.

By virtue of experience in development of oil-refining process, Zhao Na and her team also completed the simulation of technological process, optimized the separation process and heat integration scheme on the basis of the original design, enhanced the flexibility of the operation and ensured the device to operate stably.

In the course of design, the R&D team also gave full play to subjective initiative, provided a variety of solutions based on different materials for the owner, actively gave instructions to the owner and put forward effective solving measures. The move were highly acclaimed and commended by Lu'an Group. The rapid completion of the process package has also promoted the smooth progress of EPC project and won the good reputation for the company once again.

After Lu'an's process package development project was undertaken, the company's professionalism and reputation inside the sector enabled it to win more and more clients. Among them, the 1,000 ton hydantion glycine pilot test process design package project of Yangquan Coal not long ago was one of them. In such a project, Zhao Na continued to lead the team, stood ready to respond the client's needs, strove for completing the compilation of process package within a short period and helped to achieve industrialization of domestically independent glycine production process, which is technically advanced, safe and environment-friendly.

While talking about why Zhao Na was honored "the best award in R&D of Wison Group in 2017", the assessors of the company held, "during the development of three projects related to Lu'an Group, Zhao Na has given full play to subjective initiative, carried out extensive survey and research and conducted an in-depth thinking and exploration to the implementation of the project. In the course of connecting an independent unit operation into an integral system, she has actively put forward constructive and feasible suggestions, solved quite a few difficulties, promoted the effective implementation of the project. She has won the trust and praise from Shanghai Advanced Research Institute CAS, Tianjin University and Lu’an Group and also created value for the company.”
