Hope Springs Eternal in Wison’s Breast

Release time:2010-11-24

The 2010 “Wison 1+1 Star of Hope” bursary program – a special project of Wison – has been successfully completed. As of the end of October 2010, 626 students realized their dreams of schooling through charity funds amounting to RMB 125,300 raised by the people of Wison.

The project is part of a sustained effort by Wison to benefit the local people since its first Hope School at Fei county in Shandong province in 2004. In fact the company has made a commitment to build a Hope School at the city in which it establishes a major project. Thus the second Wison Hope School was completed in 2006 at Tongwei county in Gansu. This was soon following in October 2008 in Shayibage Village in Moyu County in Xinjiang province. The school has since seen improvement with continuous investment by Wison.

The 2010 “Wison 1+1 Star of Hope” bursary program is a voluntary program for all Wison employees who wish to sponsor outstanding students studying in Grades 1 to 6 who come from needy families. Wison employees can elect to sponsor one or more students by donating RMB 200 per student per year. The list of needy students is prepared by the local Hope Project office in conjunction with Wison Hope School. In order to maintain impartiality, prospective students' study results and family status are required. They are also published in the school for one week. All the donations from Wison employees are tabulated by the company’s finance department and designated under a project fund, before being remitted to the account of the local Hope Project office at the location of Wison Hope School. The Hope Project office will then pay the money to the nominated students. Since the inception of compulsory education for young children, the funds have been directly disbursed to the students to supplement their daily expenses.

Although Wison’s public welfare projects have only truly begun, the company’s tenet of  “technological development to benefit the public” is deeply ingrained in its employees. It has in fact become a habit and lifestyle attitude for the people of Wison, providing the strength and motivation for the company in the fulfillment of its corporate social responsibility.
