Breakthrough in DMTO Separation Technology with Proprietary Intellectual Property Rights of China

Recently, Pucheng Clean Energy and Chemical Co., Ltd. of Shaanxi Province has decided to adopt the CTO separation technology developed by Wison in its olefin separation unit of the second generation 680,000t/a DMTO pilot plant, phase I of the 2 million t/a CTO plant. This marks a major breakthrough in the key technology of CTO ---- the olefin separation technology with the proprietary intellectual property rights of China.
 

Developing CTO industry as a supplement to the traditional ethylene industry is an important orientation of energy development in China. In recent years, substantial progress has been achieved in the CTO technology in China, with the pace of industrializing accelerating continually, but there is still the problem of low localization rate of technology and equipment, with the core technology of DMTO still in the process of industrialization. The olefin separation process to be adopted by Pucheng Clean Energy and Chemical Co., Ltd. was developed by Wison Engineering Ltd. in 2007 by self-reliance, and Wison has a number of patented technologies at hand.
 

The MTO olefin separation technology of Wison adopts the core technology of "pre-cutting + oil absorption" developed by self-reliance, to replace the traditional demethanation system with deep refrigeration. Compared with the existing olefin separation processes at home and abroad, it features advanced process, reliable performance, low energy consumption, low investment, stable operation and long operation period. It can effectively remove foreign substance such as oxygen-containing compound, well adapt to changes in the composition of feedstock, and realize long-term, stable and economic operation of the plant; in addition, a design to mitigate coking and scaling has been put forth based on the study and analysis of the coking components in the separated products, the foreign substances leading to coking and the coking mechanism. This technology also includes an optimized design of the process flow, to minimize the internal cycling of materials, thus greatly reducing operation cost and equipment investment. In the meanwhile, based on rich engineering experience over years, Wison has, in the research and development of the DMTO separation technology, attached more attention to the applicability of technology in the whole process of petrochemical, construction, production and maintenance.
 

The application of this olefin separation technology marks an important breakthrough in the key technology of DMTO with proprietary intellectual property rights, as well as an important step in the industrialization of the coal chemical technologies of Wison, with far-reaching significance in reducing investment cost, enhancing energy security of China and increasing the overall competing power of the DMTO products.
