The Largest Productivity Ethylene Cracking Furnace in the World Started Operation

Release time:2011-02-10

February 25th, 2011, Shanghai China) The world’s largest ethylene cracking furnace in terms of production capacity, constructed by Wison Engineering Ltd. successfully put into operation recently. The ethylene cracking furnace has a production capacity of 192,000 tons per year and was put into operation at full load by BASF-YPC. Wison Engineering Ltd., the general contractor of the project, set a new world record in the production capacity of a single ethylene cracking furnace.

The previously largest domestic ethylene cracking furnace, with a production capacity of 150,000 tons per year, was also constructed by Wison Engineering Ltd.. As the general project contractor of the BASF-YPC ethylene cracking furnace, a significant breakthrough in the ethylene production capacity was again achieved up to 192,000 tons per year. It was a great challenge to achieve this dimension in terms of process design, equipment purchasing, on-site construction and start-up. Possessing its experience advantages and strong resources in the area of project construction and technical service for ethylene cracking furnaces, Wison provides support with technological breakthrough and successful delivery. By cooperating with famous global engineering companies as PMCs (project management contractor), Wison, as the EPC contractor (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) , manages and executes projects strictly according to international standards, thus achieving successful delivery.

The ethylene cracking furnace is a key project in the second phase of the Ethylene Expansion Project at BASF-YPC. The furnace uses the industry-leading SS&W patented technology. The design of the double radiation chambers achieves flexible operation by cracking and decoking in separate furnace chamber.
