Successful Commencement of the First Large-Scale Modern Coal-to-Chemical Project in Shaanxi Province

Wison Engineering Ltd. recently kicked off a coal-to-chemical EPC project in Baoji City, Shaanxi Province. The project is the first phase of a 1.5 million tons per year methanol project, covering 600,000 tons of methanol annual capacity. The project is Xuzhou Mining Group’s first coal-to-chemical project and also Wison’s first coal-to-chemical project in Shaanxi Province. Once the plant puts into production, this project will become an important element of the four methanol based modern coal-to-chemical industry chains, as laid down in the Twelfth Five Year Plan of Shaanxi Province. The project will accelerate the speed of the optimization of the petro-chemical industry in Shaanxi Province and make great significance of boosting the development of local economy.
 

The client of Wison’s project is Shaanxi Changqing Energy Chemical Company, a subsidiary of Xuzhou Mining Group, located in Fengxiang County, Baoji City, Shaanxi Province. Fengxiang Country has abundant coal resources. After completing the whole project, it will have an annual output of 1.5 million tons of methanol. The 600,000 tons per year methanol project is the first phase of the whole project. It is expected to be ready for commissioning by the end of 2012. As the general contractor, Wison Engineering Ltd. shall apply the pattern of EM+PC, and take the lead in design management, purchasing and construction. The chief operating officer of Wison Engineering Ltd. Liu Haijun, stated that this is the first coal-to-chemical project by the Xuzhou Mining Group, Wison will adopt advanced and internationalized project management methods, by focusing on HSE, quality, progress and investment as key points of control. Wison will conduct comprehensive monitoring throughout the project.
