Wison Engineering Chief Scientist Invited to be Keynote Speaker at 9th Methanol Week Conference

Release time:2014-06-12

Shanghai, 12 June 2014 – Wison Engineering Services Co. Ltd. (“Wison Engineering” or the “Company”, SEHK stock code: 2236, together with its subsidiaries, the “Group”), one of leading chemical engineering, procurement and construction management (“EPC”) service providers in China, announced that its Chief Scientist Mr. Li Yansheng was invited to participate in the 9th Methanol Week 2014 conference in Hong Kong and delivered a keynote speech on emerging markets for methanol and its supply and demand trends.

Mr. Li Yansheng, Chief Scientist of Wison Engineering, said, “When raw coal costs RMB 350 per ton, coal-based polyolefin products can create higher economic efficiency than petroleum-based polyolefin products. Production growth in methanol-to-olefins will become the key driver in methanol demand increase from 2015 to 2020.The methanol-to-olefins (MTO)plant at the Nanjing Chemical Industrial Park employing Wison Engineering’s proprietary MTO separation technology successfully commenced commercial operation, and put into operation in October 2013, marking the integrated application of Wison Engineering’s proprietary MTO separation technology, UOP’s MTO technology and the OCP’s olefin cracking process. The plant output qualified products with passing rates of as high as 99.5% and features less investment and lower power consumption as compared to similar devices,

Furthermore, in view of the comprehensive comparative analysis of various data, including China’s methanol production, import volume and consumption in 2013,Mr. Li Yansheng remarked, “With substantial MTO units commencing operation along the coastal regions of China around 2015, serious regional imbalances between supply and demand for domestic methanol will emerge after 2015 caused by the transportation cost and safety factor. After 2016, South America, with expected overcapacity in methanol, will become an important source of imported methanol for China."

Mr. Li Yansheng is awarded as Engineering Survey and Design Master of Petroleum and Chemical Industry in China. During his nearly 30 years of career in the industry, Li has been leading the planning and engineering of a number of petrochemical and coal-to-chemical projects. With his unique insights in the field of coal-to-chemicals and its downstream products, Li has played a key role in the development of Wison Engineering’s MTO separation technology.

Organized by the CBI biz, the summit is a signature annual forum that explores China’s methanol economy and the global trend of methanol supply and downstream consumption with in-depth analysis of the global methanol industry and its derivatives industries.
